Square Enix‘s Final Fantasy XVI saw over 56% over its UK launch sales recorded digital through the PlayStation Store, proving once more that physical goods are slowly but steadily declining in the country.
Final Fantasy XVI debuted at the top of the UK All Format Chart following its launch on June 22, although it sales quickly dropped 78% week-on-week and has fallen to second place — The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom reclaims the top spot as a result.
As previously reported, Final Fantasy XV beat Final Fantasy XVI’s physical launch sales by 74%, although again, that’s due to the decline in boxed sales rather than a reflection of the game’s success as a whole.
The game’s developer, Creative Business Unit III, has revealed that it would open to working on a new Final Fantasy game at some point, having previously also worked on Final Fantasy XIV and its various expansions. You can read our full review of Final Fantasy XVI here.
