Beyond Good And Evil 2 Creative Director, Emile Morel, has tragically passed away suddenly aged just 40.
Morel’s passing was confirmed on LinkedIn after two former colleagues paid their respects, with M. Gabrielle Shrager commenting:
A cherished colleague for over a decade at Ubisoft Montpellier, we laughed and wept through good times and bad, and shipped a lot great games together. Emile was so very proud of Beyond Good and Evil 2, the Space Monkeys and his teammates. He will be sorely missed.
The LinkedIn page for Morel reveals he had been working with Ubisoft in June 2000, and was involved in the likes of Rayman Legends as senior game designer, and originally served as associate creative director on Beyond Good And Evil 2.
Beyond Good And Evil 2 has been a long time coming, having originally been announced way back in 2008 before going dark for a number of years. The game was re-revealed at E3 2017, although we’re still no closer to a release date at this point; in October it was confirmed the game held the record for the game longest in development.
