Wrestler-turned-actor John Cena will feature as the cover star on all editions of WWE 2K23, 2K has announced, with the game set for a worldwide release on March 17, 2023. Meanwhile, Early Access will be made available on March 14 for owners of the Deluxe & Icon Editions of the game.
Speaking on the announcement of his cover stat status, Cena, who recently joined the Fast & Furious franchise as the brother of Vin Diesel’s character, Dom, commented:
It is a pleasure to tell the story of my career through the WWE 2K23 Showcase. 2K has done a fantastic job capturing and invigorating the WWE 2K_ franchise through this concept, and I am honored to grace the cover of WWE 2K23.
Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts, added:
Much like our cover Superstar John Cena, the Visual Concepts team didn’t back down from the challenge to prove that the quality of the WWE 2K franchise is here to stay. WWE 2K23_ takes a winning formula and adds so much more. We’re especially excited to see how fans react to the 2K Showcase and WarGames.
WWE 2K23 will include a number of advancements for the franchise, including a ‘unique’ take on the 2K Showcase, WarGames, and expansions to various marquee game modes. Beyond that, WWE 2K23 will include a comprehensive roster of WWE Superstars and Legends, such as Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar, Steve Austin and more.
2K also confirmed a Cross-Gen version of the game that will be available to purchase digitally for £69.99 on PlayStation and Xbox formats. This features the Standard Edition for last and current-generation versions of the game for the same family of consoles.
