Naughty Dog is working on The Last of Us Part 3 with PS6 in mind, according to a new report posted on The Leaker and shared by Twitter user DomTheBomb.
News comes by way of an anonymous source at Sony speaking to the site, which claims that the third chapter in the successful post-apocalyptic horror franchise is “in progress” and is being made with Sony’s as-yet unannounced PS6 in mind. However, it is also claimed The Last of Us Part 3 will come to PS5 as well.
Furthermore, it is claimed that the game could possible be released in 2026, and that its budget depends the success of The Last of Us HBO, which is currently airing in the US and UK.
Earlier today we reported that Troy Baker, who voices Joel Miller in The Last of Us games, would be up for returning in a new entry, but didn’t know if it was in the pipeline. Naughty Dog hasn’t announced anything yet, but Neil Druckmann has said he feels there’s ‘more story to tell‘ regarding the franchise.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard murmurs about The Last of Us Part 3 being in production. Back in December, tipster ViewerAnon revealed that Naughty Dog was working on the sequel.
The Last of Us Part 3 has not been officially announced yet and therefore all of the above should be taken with a huge grain of salt for the time being.
