Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Creative Director, Bryan Intihar, has revealed during an interview with The Washington Post that the upcoming superhero sequel was always planned as a single-player game despite the addition of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as playable characters.
From day one, we always said we wanted to make a single-player experience. There’s a lot of great co-op games out there, but we wanted to tell the experience of two spider heroes. You have to make some big decisions, whether it’s design decisions, tech decisions for something like co-op.
There has been some speculation that co-op was on the cards at some point due to the dual protagonists, but that is obviously not the case. However, players will be able to freely jump between Parker and Morales during Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, while the game world itself is roughly twice as big as the original.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release in Fall 2025 for PS5.
