Persona 3 Reload director Takuya Yamaguchi has revealed that the upcoming remake will not feature the broken social link state, which in the original Person 3 would permanently see your relationship quests with NPCs fail.
Speaking during an interview with Famitsu magazine, Yamaguchi-san revealed that a reverse situation can still happen, but the conditions “have been made severely less strict.”
In (Persona 3 Reload), the ‘Broken’ system has been removed. However, ‘Reverse’ can still happen, though the conditions have been made severely less strict. So simply leaving a Social Link character alone will not cause it to Reverse, as it did in the original version.
The original version of Persona 3 saw a social link reversed if a player gave an NPC the cold shoulder for too long, or answered wrong during key dialogue sequences. While players could recover a reversed link, a broken link would remain unrecoverable for the duration of the game.
Persona 3 Reload is due out in early 2024 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
