EA Motive’s upcoming Dead Space remake is set to arrive at the end of the month, and we now know what graphics modes players can expect on PS5.
There will be two included graphics modes on launch, a quality mode, which runs at 30FPS at a 4K UHD resolution, with ray-tracing turned on.
The other mode is a performance mode that runs at 60FPS at a 2K QHD resolution, with ray-tracing turned off.
Though there’s no option for it to be running at 4K at 60FPS, there’s always the possibility that a third, in-between mode is added further down the line, as has been the case with plenty of other current-gen titles.
While a smooth 60FPS is definitely appreciated no matter what game you’re generally playing, that might not be the truth for Dead Space.
The original PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Dead Space ran at 30FPS, so playing the remake at that same 30FPS with the 4K upgrade could potentially be the best version for old fans to play, if they really want that to get as much of the feel of the original as possible.
It also helps that much of Dead Space’s gameplay is slow with brief scenes of intensity, so a higher-frame rate isn’t the kind of thing that’s exactly necessary. Plus, 30FPS has a more cinematic feel at times then 60FPS.
