MachineGames’ highly anticipated Indiana Jones game is an Xbox console exclusive, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has revealed while speaking in court yesterday on the opening day of Microsoft’s battle with the Federal Trade Commission.
FTC lawyers asked the executive if Disney had signed a deal with Bethesda parent company ZeniMax prior to Microsoft acquiring the studio to “make an Indiana Jones game for multiple consoles,” with Hines replying “yes.” He later confirmed that Bethesda had amended the Disney agreement so that he game would now be appearing exclusively for PC and Xbox platforms.
Indeed, this matches up with a report in March last year when Jez Cordon claimed that the Indiana Jones game would not be exclusive to Xbox.
Hines went on to say that the company determines exclusivity deals on a “case-by-case basis,” and that those who are only released for Xbox benefitted from “streamlined” development, in part due to the developers have to test fewer versions.
You go to fewer platforms, your development gets more streamlined, It just needs to run as well as possible on one box, on PC. You know, a narrow focus always helps.
The Indiana Jones game has yet to attract a release date.
